Galaxian expands on the formula pioneered by Space Invaders. Like that earlier game, Galaxian features a horde of attacking alien armies that exchanged shots with the player. In contrast to Space Invaders, however, Galaxian adds an element of drama by having the aliens periodically make kamikaze-like dives at the player's ship.

The object of the game is to rescue the five hostages in the concentration camp. The game is divided into six stages: Communication Setup, Jungle, Village, Powder Magazine, Concentration Camp, and Airport.

A yellow, pie-shaped character named Pac-Man runs along inside a maze, eating dots as it avoids four ghosts. Each ghost has its own unique personality and gobbling one of the four super dots makes Pac-Man invincible to the ghosts for a given period of time. Each maze has its own unique bonus fruit or object with bonus points increasing as the game progresses.

All aircraft are selectable at the start screen. Like previous incarnations of After Burner, the "Deluxe" After Burner Climax cabinet has a servo-equipped chair; a new function is a button that locks the chair into a static upright position. Two other cabinet versions include a "Commander" version, which only tilts side to side, and the "Standard" version, which doesn't move at all. The "Deluxe" and "Commander" version cabinets also have widescreen LCD monitors, while the "Standard" has a 29" CRT - PRICE ON APPLICATION
